Why I build software
I am David Grimes, founder of Onboard Technologies. I build software because I enjoy it. Taking an idea from a blank page to something that works in a browser is a challenge I actively look for, and one I want more of.
Most of my work begins the same way. A problem I have noticed, or an idea that arrives fully formed and refuses to leave me alone. From there it is design, engineering and a long series of small decisions until it becomes something real. Watching a platform finally do what it was meant to do is the part I enjoy most.
I build for two reasons. The work itself is genuinely interesting, and the result is genuinely useful: business tools that replace a fragile spreadsheet, platforms people sign up to and use every day, and products that earn their place rather than adding to the noise.
That is the standard I hold this studio to. Careful design, honest scope, and software built to be used.

Onboard, PaperFox & Relayo
Alongside client commissions, we develop our own software platforms: Onboard (jobs platform), PaperFox (AI-assisted document creation and editing) and Relayo (enquiries, appointment requests and follow-ups for service businesses).
